Description:
Our client, an innovative leader in ordinance and tactical systems is looking for you, an experienced Mechanical Engineers, to join their Engineering Team at their corporate offices located in the heart of the wine country, Sonoma County, Northern California.

Summary: Working under minimal supervision, will provide detailed component design of various servo actuator systems from concept through final delivery to customer, writing test procedures, and overseeing testing, including preparation and presentation of design review material to customers and peers. In addition, working with limited supervision from the Engineering Manager and Program Manager, will also provide technical oversight of various programs from concept through final delivery to customer.

Essential Mechanical Engineering Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical engineering tasks related to component design (stress analysis, material selection, sizing, etc.), manufacturing process definition, and final testing. Perform mathematical calculations, FEA modeling, tolerance analyses, direct designers and draftsmen to prepare detail and assembly drawings per ASME standards.

Assist in the establishment of milestone schedules for detailed tasks. Perform to the program schedules established by the program managers.

Conduct investigations or tests of varying degrees of complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes. Investigate possible application of results, applying training and experience in one or several specialized branches of engineering. Obtains, correlates, and analyzes technical information needed to accomplish assigned tasks.

Essential Project Engineering Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct Key Responsibilities
• Scope technical effort across all disciplines
• Provide schedule input to PM
o Generate and maintain engineering project schedules
• Provide cost estimates to PM
o Estimate and track engineering costs
• Identify staffing requirements and direct the work of others
• Resolve technical issues

Indirect Key Responsibilities
• Specification writing
• Verification planning & compliance matrices
• Writing of technical reports and proposals
• Writing of SOWs for development suppliers
• MRN closure


Authority
• Identify and request specific resources
o Conflicts resolved by PEs or, if needed, Ops Mgr
• Assignment of work to others
• Access to weekly time charges
• Technical input to Estimate to Complete and cost estimates
• Technical input to estimated completion dates
• Involvement of the Ops Mgr and/or GM to resolve conflicts with the PM with respect to:
o Technical risk, Cost or schedule commitments

Success Defined
• No avoidable technical mistakes by using
o Internal peer reviews as needed for collaboration
o External design reviews to ensure understanding and meeting of requirements
• No avoidable missed tasks by
o Thorough planning up front before work begins
o Continuous review and update with the program manager and project team

o Risks identified and mitigation plans up front before work begins
o Periodic review and update with the program manager and project team

Required Competencies/Skills:

Education and/or Experience Required:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace, and a minimum of 10 years related experience.
